About OBAC

"A well informed family with a pair of loving, caring and knowledgeable parents is the foundation of well educated children of next generation." We, all, believe it. We all know, as well, that this great country is believed to be the land of opportunities. Every citizen, regardless of his/her national origin, color, race or age, has the right and opportunity to get the best. We should take the benefits of all the great laws and amendments like,'No Child Left Behind','Equal Opportunity', 'Child Health Plus' etc. just to name a few.

Bangladeshi American is a relatively new Community to this great nation of multicultural society. Most of them are not even aware of scopes and opportunities. Despite their tremendous overseas educational background, skill, and ability, only due to lack of contemporary knowledge of information, most of them could not even reach closer to what they actually deserve. They could not properly support and guide their children toward the right direction of life. In reality, they don't even have enough information about the rights, resources, and opportunities all around.

Obviously, the community needs supports. The families needed to be well informed, and the parents deserved to be educated and familiar with the needs and abilities of the youth and children in order to plan and direct them.

We agree that if we extend our cooperation, and share our needs, knowledge, and experience, we can easily overcome this situation and achieve the American dream life of freedom and prosperity for ourselves as well as our children.

The first step toward the formation of a common platform for the Bangladeshi Community had been appreciated and considered to be the appropriate initiative for the benefit of the Bangladeshi Americans.

History of OBAC

In an effort to establish a common platform for the rapidly growing Bengali community (People whose origin is in Bengali/Bangladesh) in the USA, to provide an undivided attention, support, and guidance to the youth and children, a handful of community members met together in an informal luncheon at the Bombay Grill, 41 State Street, Albany, New York on January 13th 2008 at 12:30 PM.

After the opening statement, a feasibility discussion took place in an open forum on the prospects and possibilities of the formation of an educational, social and cultural association for the Bangladeshi Americans, here, in the USA. The possible negative and positive effects of such an association on the relatively new, but rapidly growing Bengali Community had been pin pointed, addressed, and analyzed in details: name, nature, and scope of the association had been proposed, reviewed, and outlined with an attitude to come to a conclusion that will benefit all of us as Americans as well as Bangladeshi American Community.

Despite, the diverse background and views of the members, a common goal had been identified to move on and that was the future of the next generation, the youth and the children. We, all, work hard and dream to build a better and prosperous future for our children in this multicultural society. Professors, doctors, engineers, professionals, and all other members of the Bangladeshi American Community have been serving this great nation for years with utmost honesty, sincerity, and integrity. Their professionalisms, work ethics, and dedication had already been recognized, appreciated, and well established. We are the proud members of the Bangladeshi American Community.

We value our Family and Bengali traditions, we realize the importance of its continuation, and naturally, dream to raise our next generation with the necessary knowledge, skill, and ability, so that they get and share the equal and same opportunities with all around.
